Ship Routes from England to US

Hello list. I have Irish ancestors, Simon and Ellen FLYNN and known children Matthew (b. 1861 in Ireland), Mary or Minnie (b. 1863 in Ireland), Ellen or Nellie (b. 1866 in England) and Frances or Fannie (b. 1874 in West Indies). From these crazy dates and places, I have developed a theory.
Tha family moved from Ireland to England sometime between 1863 and 1866. They either stayed in England and took a ship in 1874 through the West Indies to the USA and Fannie was born onboard, or they moved from England to the West Indies, stayed a while, then took a ship to the US in 1874-1875.
From England to the West Indies to the US, what would be the best port for me to search? Galveston? New Orleans? I am pretty sure the year they landed in the US was either 1874 or 1875, according to census records, obits, and city directories. (They ended up in St. Louis, MO)

Anyone got any good ideas? They are not at Castle island, and I have searched every volume at the ships list site. I have also checked Olive Tree. I don't have an ancestry subscription, so I haven't checked that yet.
