Help ship "Thames" from Ireland to Australia about 1824

Hi all,

I'm trying to find passenger list.
On Jane Hincks Burial record (New south Wales, Australia)it says the ship name was Thames. She would have been travelling with her two sons Mark (born abt 1820) and John (Born abt 1816) Hincks. Not sure if there is more siblings. Her Husband James Hicks was transported on convict ship Asia. Asia sailed from Cork on 29th October 1824. They lived in Templemore Co. Tipperary. I've found some records with their last name spelt Hinks.
Any help or advice greatly appreciated.

Hello everyone, Does anyone have a record of the North Star departing Londonderry about August 12th. 1846? I am looking for the Steele family,father Robert, mother Elizabeth, and children William and Matilda that left this port for Philadelphia around this period of time. There may have also been a James and Ellen Doherty about the same time as James was Elizabeth's brother.James and Ellen had just been married on June 6th. of the same year. They were all from the Strabane area. I have checked ships of the JJ cooke line from 1847 and found nothing so far.

I'm searching for the ship that carried Patrick McCloskey from Ireland to the US about 1800. I think he probably came to PA as that is where he settled. He may have been traveling with a wife, Ann and a young son Patrick. Details about his early life are sketchy at best, but naturalization paper filed by a Patrick McCloskey in Cambria Co where I find this family indicate they were from Londenberry. The date of the papers 1842 would mean it was the son Patrick that had filed these since I believe the father Patrick died between 1830-1840.
Any help in locating their trip from Ireland to the US would be greatly appreciated.

I'm pretty new to this searching and I know that one of my relatives (ancestors) came to NY or Phila in 1872. However, I don't know her last name.

Where would I even begin to look for records to pore over?

Isabella - married to George W Sly (in Philadelphia)
- born in Ireland 1855
- George may have been a second husband
- was probably around 16 when she immigrated.

This is not even remotely easy :)

All I have to go on is passed down stories, that say Richard Brindley came to America in 1750 from Northern Ireland, as a young stowaway. Born about 1737. Unknown where he was born or where he landed. He was found in Botetourt Co Va around 1760's, Washington Co VA 1780's. Was mentioned as as a Witt. to deed in "The Preston Family Papers" on to Greene Co TN by 1790's. Andrew J. Wales born on ship from Ire (maybe England) to NY 1830 or 1831. Died 1889 in Helmville, Mt His family settled in Buffalo, Andrew married Anna Marie Cavanaugh BD 1838-1899. We have no information on his parents or siblings except one sister Margaret Wright
There are no A.Wales on the Castlegarden or EllisIsland sites for that year. Wondering if there is other ways to find him on a ship.

I saw on the 1861 Cencus that there are sveral Davidsons, which show a birth place of Ireland.

John was born Sept. 8, 1822 in Howard County, Md. and died June 19, 1913 in Baltimore. All it says on parents is father's name Joshua born in Ireland. It has mother unknown. SS Fernaci 1872?

I am trying to find a passenger list for a ship called Fernaci. It sounds Italian to me but I don't know for sure.

The vessel name is listed on a Petition for Naturalization for a McCurdy ancestor of mine. She does not seem to have been well educated and therefore the name might not be exactly correct but that is what was typed on the petition.

The ship arrived at New York on December 26, 1872. I presume that it came from Ireland as that is where this ancestor emmigrated from.

Does the vessel name "Fernaci" ring any bells for anyone?

We are looking for any info on our g-grandpop Edward Burns (or sound alike)and his brother William. They came to NSW Australia we are told from Co Wexford Ireland and arrived in NSW in abt1870. He married Mary Ann Stafford in Sydney 25 April 1879 they lived in Balmain and they had 10 children. Is anyone familiar with men coming across on ships from Ireland? They were sailors. There is some sort of a list of ships during that time. I had the link and I lost it. My Garvin was a steward when he came to Florida in 1850. I lose track of him once he gets to the US and before he gets to the coast of Florida.

My names is Allan Clark. I am looking for a ship that left Dublin Ireland the last week of March or the first week of April 1833. The reason for the time frame is because one of my Ancstors was born at sea on April 19, 1833.
The Master of this ship was Daniel Marron,To whom my ancester was named after. My ancestor's name was Daniel Mrron Clark.
John and Mariah Clark, with at least three sons, Joseph Clark, James Clark, william E. Clark, My G.G..Grandfaher, and a fouth son,Daniel Marron Clark, born at sea.
I believe the came to New York, and then to Canada.

Unfortunately, I do not have the name of the ship.

Can someone please help point me in the right direction??
Iam researching my greatgrandparents Maurice Langan and Margaret Kennelly Langan who immigrated to the United States from Ireland with their children, and settled in Platte Center Nebraska in 1877 (they first lived in St. Anthonys Parish according to an obituary,but according to resources St. Anthonys wasnt in existence until the early 1900's)
I cannot find any information at all on the ship, where they entered the USA etc. I do know its wasnt through Ellis Island...Iam told perhaps they sailed through the St. Lawrence Seaway and into Canada or NY.. I have searched the Ships Guild and Ellis Island and several others but with no luck.
Any one with any suggestions?

He was born in Glin in 1819. He married Mary Scanlon at some point. I am trying to figure out if they were married in Ireland or in Canada or Maine. Does anyone know if there is a record from ships Ireland to Great Britain? Also, a ship called "Morning Light" left Liverpool in April and arrived May 6, 1857 in New York. Does anyone know why the complete Morning Light manifest would state that all passengers originated from Great Britain? I know my Wiley family were born in Ireland, and this appears to be a typo because this is defintely the entire family. They left Ballybay, probably leaving Belfast and going to Liverpool to taken the ship to America. If anyone has any insight or knows about this "Morning Light" vessel (there are no pictures on ancestry), I would appreciate it.

Ireland to New Orleans stowaways

Hello and I thank anyone in advance if they can help b/c this is not going to be easy, if even possible. My ancestor and his brother arrived in the U.S. as very young stowaways, 9 and 11 years of age. My ancestor was born in Ireland, supposedly, abt 1939, and his brother in abt 1937. I can only find one ship that arrived in New Orleans from Ireland during the time they supposedly arrived in the U.S., the Thomas Wright, arr 1949. I have searched that ship's passenger list, but couldn't find any similar children. These two brothers caught another "ride" up the Mississippi River, then the Missouri River ..... my ancestor stopping in Hermann, Missouri, and his brother continuing on up the Missouri. We have absolutely no idea where the brother "landed." My ancestor was taken in by the Boatwright (prob Daniel and Sarah) family in Loutre (sometimes referred to as Lower Loutre) Township, Montgomery County, Missouri. This family was found in Virginia in the 1840 census and in Missouri in the 1860 census (with no mention of my ancestor). I could not find the Boatwright family in the 1850 census. Would they have been elusive b/c of the presence of my ancestor? My ancestor and his wife (maiden name Stephenson) are listed on the 1860 census as well, along with others in the household that have the last names of Burks and Callaway. I have no idea what their connection would be. My ancestor went by the last name of Wright. Would this have been an Irish surname, or was it used b/c of the ship's name, the caretakers' name, etc., etc.? Short of DNA testing to find a common ancestor, have I missed another way to find family and connections? I think it's going to take a miracle to solve this puzzle, but I still believe in miracles. William Harvey emigrating from Ireland to Newfoundland (Freshwater/Carbonear)

Can someone please advise where Irish immigrants to Newfoundland were most likely to have landed?

I am trying to trace my ancester William Harvey, who settled in Freshwater near Carbonear (near St Johns). As I can't find a birth cert for William, I am guessing he was born in Ireland, and emigrated sometime between his birth and the date of his marriage (1803–1830).

I realise that potentially there are numerous ports of entry in Canada and the US that they might have landed, but if someone could give me a couple of likely possibilities of where to start my search, I would be most grateful.

Buried in the Methodist Cemetery, Freshwater on 28 Aug 1888.

Believed to have been married to Jane Newell (or Noel) on 5 Dec 1830,
at Blackheath Methodist. Father of John William (x2), Theresa,
Cornelia Jane, William Wesley, James, Jesse, Charlotte, Mary Lavinia.

We are looking for the ship that John Caldwell (b. 9 Jan 1682/83, Lononderry, Ireland) sailed to America on. He married Margaret Phillips (b. 6 Sep 1685) and the couple were married on 16 Mar 1701.

We were told that John Caldwell sailed from Ireland to Philly in 1735. I presumed the departure port was Londonderry, Ireland. Also, if you find the ship that he was on could you send the passenger list, because we are also looking for John Waller, or any Wallers, who might be on the same ship.

Later, the Caldwells settled in the Lundenburg County, Virginia area.

My ggg grandparents immigrated from Antrim,Ulster, Ireland
supposedly on August 13, 1818. My ggg grandparents were John and Ann McIlrath Carson. John was born 1789. They came with their two children, Margaret b. 1815 and John b. 1818. They settled in NW North Carolina. They traveled with John's brother, Andrew and his wife Margaret. Does anyone know how I can find where they came from, and the port they most likely arrived in the US? Any advice would be helpful.

My gggrandfather, Edward Haley (Healy), came to America from Ireland as a servant when he was 11 years old. He was aboard the Provincialist which landed at the Port of Philadelphia on 19 Nov 1851. He married Mary Nolen, who was born in Pottsville, PA, and lived his entire life in Mahanoy Township, Pennsylvania. I'm looking for a manifest for the ship or any information cincerning the birth place of Edward Haley.

They are:

Henry Higgins born abt 1846 in Ireland (roughly aged 16 - 18) when he came over.

John Higgins born abt 1806 in Ireland (roughly aged 26 - 27) when he came over

Rosanna Higgins born abt 1806 in Ireland (roughly ahed 25 - 27) when she came over.

I especially would like to know any sources that list the names of the ships, when the came over, and how to obtain the ship manifests.

I have relatives who came to Philadelphia from Limerick Ireland on the ship Sevalane. I see almost no records of this ship. Does anyone have any information or pictures of it?

Also, in 1847 a WIlliam Chambers arrived in on this ship from Philadelphia. Any additional information would be great...i.e. town he was from, parents names, etc.

I would guess this would probably be impossible to find.

Stephen Henry Rogers (1826-1899), Quaker) and Mary Margaret McGinnis (1830-1883), he of East Gwillimbury and she of County Armagh, Ireland. They married, lived, bore children and died in York County, Ontario. Both are buried in the Kettleby Cemetery in Newmarket. I would very much like to trace the ancestry of the McGinnis line, please.

I am looking for any information on James Fleming coming to the US in about 1789. From what I currently have, he came with his brother, Andrew from Ireland (I assume Londonderry as thier father is thought to have had subtantial property there) in that year. I have no idea what ship he came over on.
James was born in Londonderry, Ireland in 1760 and came to Canada from the US in about 1796.
Any information on James is greatly appreciated, but I would like to especially know where exactly he came from and if Andrew or any other family came with him.

My Irish ancestor Mary Daly was born in NY, NY 14 Jan 1849, shortly after her parents got off he boat from Ireland(?)and before they proceeded on to Chicago.

Her fathers name was (I believe) Brian Daly. Mother's name unknown.

The ship Walworth left Londonderry, Ireland about 7 Jun 1773 and arrived in Charleston, SC on 27 August 1773. It also is believed to have stopped in Philadelphia, PA and Cape Fear, SC. Robert GILMORE born in either Ireland or Scotland in 1780. He came to the US between 1780 and 1830, perhaps even before 1819. (Marriage record in Virginia is unclear.)

His parents were Archibald & Jane GILMORE. I don't know if they came with him to the US. And, I don't know who Robert's siblings were.

Robert GILMORE settled in Rockbridge County, Virginia. He may have been a teacher in Lexington, Virginia. In either 1819 or 1849 in Rockbridge County, Virginia, he married Margaret "Peggy" BRADLEY, daughter of William BRADLEY and Elizabeth WHITMAN (daughter of Catherine CARLOCK and Matthew WHITMAN, both born in Holland)

When did Robert GILMORE immigrate to the US? What was the name of the ship? Which port did he arrive at? Was he alone or with other GILMOREs?

Brick wall I can't climb alone. I have tried for six years. Margaret BURNS (BYRNES) was about 16 yrs. old when she came to America from Banbridge, Co. Down, Northern Ireland in 1860-63. I wonder if she came alone. She may have been on a ship with McCartans or McCartens. She may have been with family. She may have come as a domestic. I only know she didn't stay in NY--seemed to go to Wisconsin almost immediately which makes me think she may have come to join family or had a job before she left Ireland. She married 4 years later and a Catherine McCartan was her bridesmaid. Her obituary never mentions family. I would be so grateful for help. Diana Williams

Looking for a Ship Paggenger Manifest, from somewhere over in Ireland, would not know what ship to look at to see, there is so many of them.

what I am looking for here is to see what ship a Mark Poteet came over on from Ireland. Did he come over by himself or did he come over with his parents & or brothers & sisters too.

I have a 1880 Census from Sumner County, Tennessee that list a John Poteet from Tennessee & his father is from Ireland.

Plus I would have to guess that Mark Poteet came over from Ireland to North America some time bewteen 1775 to 1800.

Frist time I here about Mark Poteet is around Bruke County, North Carolina, where he meets his wife a Duckworth. Then from there, they go to Sumner County, Tennessee to live & raise there children at.

I'm trying to find an immigration date/ship for John and Sarah Steacy. They were married in Ferns about 1804 and John became a US citizen in 1818. Think they may have arrived about 1811. They settled in Lancaster County, PA so I'm thinking they may have come through Philadelphia or Baltimore. Not sure if they came together with children, or perhaps John Steacy came first, possibly with his father-in-law, Edward Steacy.

searching for emigration records out of Donegal CO Ireland in 1849 or 1848 for Samuel and Mary Moore, Samuel and Rebecca (Davis)Moore and baby Samuel Moore. Most likely left from Londonderry. Could have been Belfast also.
Older Moores about 60 yrs and younger ones about 28-30 yrs. Baby about 2-3.
Also searching for record of Mathew Lyle born 1824-26 leaving Ireland about 1840-46.

I am looking for any information (passenger lists) that include Margaret Cecilia LOGUE and her mother, Mary LOGUE. James HOOD would also be listed but not necessarily on the same list.

James HOOD married Margaret LOGUE 12 Jun 1881 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia, PA, USA. Both James and Margaret were born in Ireland. I have received a wonderful suggestion as far as possible ship years, included below. Because Margaret and Mary likely would have travelled together, the entries dated 1847 would be the most likely match. James HOOD could have come in any of the years listed at the bottom.

Why am I having trouble entering the Olive Tree website? In the past this has been a wonderful website, but now no matter what link I click on, takes me back to the Welcome page! I have asked the rootsweb help desk for assistance; they referred me to www.olivetreegenealogy.com/ships/ but it still takes me to the Welcome Page that links to nowhere. Please help - how do I get to the ship lists? Yes, I do wait for the page to fully load and links still go nowhere. Has anyone tried this from the get-go lately?
