Three brothers, different last names from Norra Asarp, Skaraborg Lan

I am searching for brothers to August Sandgren; Gustaf Carl Sandberg b. 1852 and Fredric Carlsson b 1863. It is speculated they left Sweden around the same timeframe, but not sure where Gustaf and or Fredric went when they immigrated from Sweden & arrived in America (either late 1880s or very early 1890s). August & his family settled in the Seattle, WA area.

It's difficult when they all have different last names, AND I do not know if the 2 men traveled with spouses when leaving Sweden. If anyone might have a tie to these men and their families, or if you have additional information that could assist me in my search, it would be very much appreciated.

My great grandfather, Erick Anderson, emigrated from Sweden 10/15/1876 and came into Pennsylvania. I'm interested in the name of the ship he traveled on and any other information as I'm working on family genealogy. The above information came from Embas migration file: Balinge D 1876-001. I'm not sure if he traveled with others or way alone.

I am currently looking for any information on one person; Andrew BERG.

Andrew was born in Sweden around the year 1861. I believe he married around 1878 to Mary (maiden name unknown - she was born around 1860). Both ahd come over around 1892 from Sweden with their family and was naturalized around 1896.

Andrew and Mary's children are Charles, Ruby, Mary, Harry, Annie and Wilfred (My great-grandfather).

Wilfred (Walfrid, Walford, Wilfird) was born on April 15, 1887 im Helsonburg, Sweden and he came over with his family (father, mother, siblings) in/around 1891 (around age 10) and naturalized in/around 1896. Wilfred eventually married Flora Sophia LETHBRIDGE and both are buried in the Corinth Rural Cemetary, New York.

I am currently missing every single piece of information on Andrew BERG and I don't know where to start. I can't seem to find him on the SSDI and I did find him on the 1900 US Census living in Canaan, New York.
William Armstrong immigrated from Sweden in 1898

William Armstrong came to America in 1898 and settled in Bath,Maine. He was born in 1881 in Sweden and his parents names were Hermann Armstrong and Mary Swanson and both of them were born in Sweden too. I need help in trying to find out where my G. Grandfather and his parents lived in Sweden and if he had any siblings, what port did he leave at in Sweden, and what port he arrived in America. Anything would be appreciated. I am thinking that over in Sweden,he would or might of had a different spelling of his name maybe like Vilhelm Armstark for William Armstrong, and his mother's name would be like Maria Svensson or Svensdotter, and his father would be Herman Armstark.I am just guessing, but like I said I will take any information on William,Hermann or his mother Mary. Also William died between 1910-1914,on a ship, and his wife remarried in 1914.William came over to America single. THANK YOU

Emigration Ports 1870 / Passenger list

I am looking for information on what ports where open for trans-atlantic passengers in Sweden for 1870. My g-g-grandfather Olof Ericson b. Sept 16, 1850 Jemtland, Sweden & came to the US in June 1870, he was registered at Alanaset, Hallesjo Parish, Jamtlands, Sweden in June 1870. Others who may be on the passenger list; Betsey, Andrew, Sven, Erickson. I believe he would have landed in the US in late July-August but I am not sure on the port of arrival? I have the 1900, 1910, 1920 census of Rock Creek, MN saying Olof arrived at this time. Where did ships from Sweden sail to? Any help, information, advice, look-ups is apprecaited, and if more info is needed I am happy to provide.

Thank you,

Paul Erickson

Unfortunately all who would remeber these events are dead and all i had to go on is rumours my mother have heard since she was small.

I gott a name Julia Alfredsson and the name she (might) have married under in the USA. I did research in Sweden and whit some help i gott the following information.

She is my mothers fathers sister.
She was born in 1900 on the fourth of December(1900-12-04).
She did Emigrate to the USA in 1922 by a ship called Drottningholm, which arrived in New York on November the 18th (1922-11-18)(i have the passenger manifest)
In the manifest theres a box which sayes where theire first adress should be.
In there it sayes she is supposed to live whit her aunt called Frieda Bostrom (but i belive the correct swedish spelling would be Frida Boström) and that the adress is 4835 Barry Ave. Chicago Illinois.

Thats what i have which are on paper. The other things are rumours and one fact.
Rumour: She Married whit someone whit the surname Ford.
Fact: She came back to Sweden (belive it was 1947) and picked upp a certan numbers off relatives and took them to the USA.

Note that her surname was Alfredsson, but it might be spelled Alfredson in english due to grammma corrections (only one s)

Thats All i know.

I find it hard to track her down, im not good at this.

Can someone PLEASE help me.
My grandmother, listed as Anna G. Hultman on the ship manifest, boarded the Orlando ship at Goteborg, Sweden, sailing to Hull, England, on 30 Sept 1887, at the age of 22, traveling alone. The manifest said her destination was New York City. I can't seem to get any further in finding the larger ship she sailed to NYC on from Liverpool. I sure would appreciate any assistance I could get. Thanks so much.

August Hamilton/Sven Svenson?

My great great grandfather immigrated here from Sweden and changed his name from Sven/Swen Svenson/Swenson (sp)? to August Hamilton. His wife immigrated from Denmark and her name was either Karen Mortenson or Carrie Moorberg. She may have changed her name as well. She was born around 1859 so I'm assuming he was roughly the same age. They had a daughter, Ida Alminy "Susie" Boletta Hamilton in 1878. I know this about him: he played accordian and octarena and was a deacon at the First Baptist Church of Cheyenne.
The problem I'm having is I don't know which name he came with and when he changed it. Any information about either of them would be great!

The escape of Ola Månsson - grandfather of Charles Lindbergh

August Lindbergh was born as Ola Månsson May 12 1808 in Smedstorp, Sweden and died October 15 1893 in Little Falls, Minnesota, US.

He was the father of lawyer, loan officer and congressman Charles August Lindbergh and grandfather of the famous flyer Charles Lindbergh.

Ola Månsson was a rich farmer close to Simrishamn in the south of Sweden and with his wife Ingar Jönsdotter he had 7 children. He was selected to the Swedish parliament, representing the peasantry and had several assignments.

In 1858 Månsson was tried in the Swedish court on accusations of embezzlement of money from the bank at which he was a loan officer. After the trial, Ola Månsson, his wife Lovisa Carlén and her infant son Carl immigrated to the United States. When they immigrated Ola changed his name to August and changed the family surname to Lindbergh. I believe he came in to some port In Illinois. I believe it was around 1882, maybe before.
Otto (b. 1872) and Matilda (b. 1873) Pearson immigrated from Sweden to Chicago, IL in 1893. The 1910 Census shows children - Minnie, Nethel, Mauritz (my grandfather), Constance and Helen. Also a boarder named Peter Nelson (b. 1882) lived with them at that time. I am trying to find information about where in Sweden they came from. Their names (spelled various ways) cannot be found in any immigration records. Do you know them? Related? Names sound familiar? Thanks for any help.
Maureen
Hi,
Im trying to figure out what happend to
1) Nils Peter/Petter Bengtsson, b. 1858, February 15, in Grevie, Sweden. Emigrated to the US in 1881.

2) Amanda Persdotter/Persson, b 1857, February 25, in Grevie, Sweden.
Emigrated to the US in 1879 together with her father Per Jönsson b 1830, July 25.

Nils and Amanda got married in the US and had a child, Anna Josefina, 1889, June 10. Amanda died when Anna was very young, only a few years and Anna was sent back to Sweden. Nils was supposed to come as well and the story that is told is that he was waiting to enter the ship and just fell down and died.

I cant find Nils Peter, Amanda or Per in any kind of passengerlists or any other records. Amanda and Per came to US via Copenhagen, Denmark. Anna was born in San Francisco and they might have lived somewhere in Oregon. Per returned to Sweden as well.

Greatful for anykind of clues on where they lived, when they got married, where and why they died and on what ships they arrived on (and even what ship Anna and Per took back to Sweden).

Best regards,

Linda

I was hoping someone might have access to this passenger list. My great great aunt arrived in New York (Ellis Island) on 9/22/1894 on the ship Thingvalla departing from Kristinaia on 9/6/1894. Her name was Inga Bertelsen (born 1876). I am trying to track down my Norway roots and so far this is the only lead I have.
I have visited Finland and have secured a family list starting with the early 1600's to the present. I am interested in information on the original family name when they immigrated to Sweden. The family were Walloon iron ore processers and went to Logdo Bruk, Sweden for 100 years and then to Kimo Bruk, Finland. In Sweden they were Stahles and in Finland the name was changed to Stahlberg. The earlied name I have is Han Hansson Stolle or Stahle, born in 1691, died in 1691.

He also changed his name and may have been listed as Charles Brown. The year was 1853/1854. He was born in 1835 and lived in Blekinge, Sweden. Any help is appreciated.
Ellis Island mystery

The naturalization papers from my great-great grandfather state he emigrated to the U.S. from Gotenborg, Sweden. His port of entry was New York, NY in November, 1892 on the vessel S.S. Umbria. I have another document stating he arrived on or about the month of October, 1892 in the port of New York, NY. He was born in 1871. I have placed him in Sweden in 1890. The only Ellis Island record that is even close has the correct name, correct age, the date of arrival is 10/31/1892 and the ship is correct. What is stumping me is the ethnicity and port of departure which are listed as England and Liverpool respectively. When I look at the actual manifest record, his occupation is listed as engineer and U.S. destination is Massachusetts. He was a farmer and came to Minnesota. I read somewhere that Swedish immigrants frequently traveled via boat to Hull, England then by train to Liverpool where they departed for the U.S. How can I be certain this is my descendent? Sorry this is so long. Any help/guidance is greatly appreciated!

Johan Eriksson (Jansson), sailor, b 1860, from Valö or Dannemora

I have a pretty hopeless task that someone maybe can help me shed some light on:

My grandfather's brother was Johan Eriksson (or Jansson), b 30 Sept 1860 in Hökhuvud, Uppsala, Sweden. In the Swedish books he's listed as a sailor, and he worked as such between 1880 and 1888. But then he disappears. The records I've seen list him as emigrated (from Dannemora) in 1903, but I've been unable to find a convincing match in Emibas for that date.

However, there is a perfect match in August of 1889: Johan Eriksson, 28 yrs, Valö (where the family lived at the time), emigrated to Chicago, IL.

My trail ends there. Family history reports that he returned to Sweden to claim the inheritance of his father (Erik Jansson, d Aug 20, 1910), but I haven't been able to confirm that either.

If he'd only had an easier surname... :-)

I am so frustrated with trying to find my great grandparents arrival into the USA. I have record of my great grandfather, Karl E. Nilsson, from Garpenberg leaving Gothenburg Port in 1902 for Chicago. I know that he took either the ship "Romeo" or "Aristo" to Hull England and I have the contract number. I have my great grandmother, Anna Nilsson and son, from Garpenberg Parish in Dalarna, leaving Gothenburg port a few months after my great grandfather, for Chicago. I know that she took one of the ships listed above for Hull, England and I have her contract number as well. The problem I'm having is that I can't find them on any record coming into the USA. I have checked all ports in 1902 and they are not on any of them. Where do I look from here??? P.S Some where along the trip they changed the name from Nilsson to Nelson.
Thank You
Delayne

Good Morning! I am new to this and would like some information concerning the Immigration/Naturalization of my Great Grandfather. Name, Joseph A. Johnson. I found the 1920 census fom Morrison Co. Minnesota with his name, and in column 14 there is a Pa listed, and from what I can read this is the column to show if they are naturalized or alien where there are "na" or "al". But on his line it has the Pa. And the year 1882 that he was naturalized. I was curious as to if this was where he came into the US at.

His dad my gg grandfather was Elias Andersson and my ggg grandfather was Anders Carlsson. They were from Halland County, Sweden. My g grandfather came to America approximatly in 1881. He kept the family name, when his two brothers came to America they changed their names from Andersson to Palmquist and Almquist. Anderson lost track of his family or they lost track of him. I am not sure of who lost track of who. I believe Anderson Severed ties for some reason. If anyone has any information it would be greatly appreciated.

Paula

Hulda is my Great-grandmother. We have very little information about her. Her date of birth was Sept. 30, 1859. She can to the US, Whitehall Michigan in 1880. In Hulda's obit. they listed two sisters Emma and Caroline, and one brother August. I have not found any parents names or other reletives. One of my cousins wrote to somewhere in Sweden and received this informtion.
Name at Birth: Hulda Johnsdotter Persson
Date of Birth:Sept. 30, 1859
Location: Horn parish Östergötlands County
She took out a moving certificate in 1880 and left from Horn parish
The next informtion is that she is on the index to a Passenger list as Hulda Christin Jenson 20 years old from Horn parish. Hulda left from the port of Gothenburg on Sept. 10, 1880 for White Hall.
**
They did not give the ships name. Could Hulda been married befor? We had always thought her last name was Peterson.
Can someone help with this mystery.
