Without seeing the manifest, it is anyone's guess. However, if the manifest were prepared at the point of departure and the voyage did not last 2 months, why is that the age given for the ancestor?
Born at sea is probably not a good assumption if he is actually listed on the manifest, by name, with an age, listed with his family.
