Thanks for your reply.
My family line stems from Thomas Pestell, a farmer, who lived in the Meppershall/Shillington area of Beds. I can trace them back to about 1717.
I think the line may extend back farther through other Pestells in Colmworth to Leicester in the early 1500s. That's where the Rev Thomas P came from - he was of course C of E - before Methodism began.
I would be pleased to discuss this with you and suggest you e-mail me direct, to save clogging up the board with a lot of detail. Let me know where you fit into the scheme, I have about 600 names on file but no Alex P.
