Who's on first? Which generation gets top billing again?!

I keep seeing,and receiving reverse order ancestral lines. That is to say, the individual who is the final descendant is putting himself as a member the first generation and working in reverse rather than let's say the individual who arrived to North America in the 1600's. Are others seeing this trend?
