George Walter Lee Huffman
(November 20, 1921 - December 23, 2006)



George Walter Lee Huffman - age 85 - of Hamilton, IL, passed away Saturday, December 23, 2006 at 3:58 P.M. at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL. He was born on November 20, 1921 in Nauvoo, IL, a son of George and Eleanor Kruse Huffman. He married Hazel Louise Symmonds 0n January17,of 1940. Together they had seven sons. She survives and lives in Keokuk IA. On January 10, 1976, he married R. Ilene McVeigh in Hamilton, IL. She survives in Hamilton, IL.
His children were: 1. Steven L ( who died in 2000) and Rhonda Huffman and their family. A son - Quint Huffman (who died in 2005) and his children, Katelyn and Rileigh. A son- Dane Huffman and his children, Tyler, Shelby and Sara Huffman of Millersburg and a daughter Dionna Huffman and her children Joshua and Amanda of Blountville Tennessee. 2. Roger Huffman of Hamilton, IL, his family - a son, Lewis and Sara Huffman and their children, Michael, Drake and Destiny of Warsaw, IL and a daughter, Courtney Huffman and her daughter, Breauna Deslo of St. Clair, MO 3. George and Carol Ann Huffman of Hamilton and their family - a daughter, Nicole Schnoor and George White of Hamilton and their children: Ashley Page and Nathan VanVark of Hamilton and their son: Bryce VanVark; Alex Page and Allison White of Hamilton; a son, George "J" Huffman of Keokuk and his daughter, Jaylee Huffman and a son, Michael Huffman of Hamilton, IL; 3 step-daughters: Amy and Roger Huston of Keokuk and Grant McMillen, Laura and Tony Stutzman of Quincy, IL and Katie and Alan Rose of Keokuk and their sons Ethan and Andrew Rose. 4. Anthony Huffman of Keokuk, IA 5. Christopher Huffman of Warsaw and his family - a daughter, Jennifer Huffman and friend, Jesse Masacole and children - Erin, Triston and Chandler and Becca, David Van Huffman of Keokuk and his family - a son, Shaun David and Kerri Huffman of Shiloh, IL and their daughter: Isabella Huffman, a daughter, Cassandra April Huffman of Tokyo, Japan and a son, Joshua Adam Huffman of Macomb, IL. 6. Timothy and Brenda Huffman of Keokuk and his family, Nathan Huffman of Keokuk, Adam Sparrow and Zachary (Heather Hagmeier) Sparrow 4 step-children: 1. Ron Perry of Roscoe, IL and his family: 2. Marge Selph of Fort Madison, IA and her family - 1 daughter, Rosemarie Metcalf and her son, Brandon Metcalf and 2 sons: Jimmy and Joelle Selph and their family, and Willard and Suzanne Selph and their family. 3. Bill Schneider of Hamilton, IL 4. Daniel and Arlene Schneider of New York and their son, Ian Schneider A Special Daughter: Debbie (Merlin) Wilson of Hamilton and her family,Nichole Markley, Victoria Markley, Michael Huffman, Mitchell, Jason and Justin Wilson. George was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ellis who died during WWII; a son - Steve Huffman who died in 2000; a grandson - Quint Huffman who died in 2005; and a step-son-in-law: Jim Selph. George was a decorated veteran of WWII, US Army, serving from 9/15/1942 to 12/23/1945. During his time in the military, he received five bronze stars. In his younger years, George farmed in the Hamilton area. He worked at Keokuk Steel Castings for 29 years, retiring at age 62. He was a member of United Steel Workers Union. George enjoyed fishing, canoeing, woodworking & whittling and traveling with his family. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family. Services will be held Thursday, December 28, 2006 at 1:30 P.M. at Faith Assembly of God Church in Hamilton with Rev. Brett Laswell officiating. Burial in Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton with Full Military Honors held at the graveside. Visitation will be held Wednesday December 27, 2006 after 2:00 P.M. with family meeting friends between 5:00 and 8:00 P.M. at Lamporte Funeral Home of Hamilton. Memorials have been established in memory of George Walter Lee Huffman.
