Karl Brenek Died - November 19, 2009 Warwick, RI

- Karl Brenek, 92, of Third Avenue, Warwick, Rhode Island, died on Thursday, November 19, 2009, at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, RI. He was the husband of the late Anna (Buffin) Brenek. Mr. and Mrs. Brenek married on December 18, 1937. Born in Bellaire, Ohio, a son of the late Ludvig and Anna (Ziska) Brenek, he lived in Warwick since 1961. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Brenek was a toolmaker employed by R.I. Metpro in Warwick for 22 years and Fulford Manufacturing in Providence for 10 years before his retirement. He was an avid Boston Red Sox fan, and loved fishing. He owned and restored two Model-A Fords. He is survived by two daughters, Carol B. Fontaine of Rockledge, FL and Donna J. Browne of Portland, ME; a son, James K. Brenek of Warwick, RI; a brother, Edward Brenek of Lisbon, CT; three grandchildren, Lance M. Fontaine, Lisa K. Wood, and Susan P. Young; four great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandsons. He was the brother of the late Augustina Lee and Emil Brenek. His funeral will be held on Monday, November 23, at 10 a.m. from the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Warwick, RI. A committal service with military honors will be held at 11 a.m.in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery Chapel, South County Trail, Exeter, RI. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be on Sunday from 3-6 p.m. and Monday 9-10 a.m.
