My ggggrandfather is reported to have been the postmaster in Springfield in the 1800s. His daughter, Harriett A. Cooper, was my great-great grandmother, and married Frances Samuel Blodget (or Blodgett). The marriage was in the late 1830's.

At least one version of the family history indicated that he was the first postmaster of Springfield.

Does anyone have any information on this family, or resources to find info on the early Springfield post office?
