I recently received a Marriage Record for my Great GreatGrandparents, Sonnie Norris and Sallie Robinson who married on March 13, 1884 in Harrison County, Marshall, Texas.
A Minister of the Gospel, most likely Baptist, signed as having performed the Ceremony his name, BURRELL TOBBS. The two r's in BURRELL could be s's but, I think they're r's.
BURRELL TOBBS had to be a Minister in the Harrison County area to have performed the service. Love to hear from anyone having another Marriage Certificate signed by the same Minister reply with more information if possible.
I have looked for this person in the 1880 Census but, no sign of him and I do not have access to other years. Appreciate any threads that might lead me to this Minister. My goal is to find out who both parents of the Bride are and who was the Father of the Groom?
Both the Bride and Groom are African American so the chances are very high that the Minister was as well but, not absolute.
