"KIN SOUGHT IN SLAYING OF RANCHER - Delano Police Launch Hunt for Brother of Murdered Russian's Son-in-law: Bakersfield, Jan. 2 - (Exclusive) - Kern Authorities today instituted a search for William Chick , brother of Raymond Chick, son-in-law of William Pavloff, in connection with the murder of Pavloff, member of the Delano Russian colony, Christmas night. Chick is reported to have left Delano about the time of the slaying of Pavloff in the rear of his home. Raymond Chick, questioned concerning the murder immediately after by Delano police, was released when he proved he was on his ranch at the time of the slaying. Pavloff on his deathbed admitted a quarrel with his son-in-law. Authorities here plan further questioning of Rachel and Polly Pavloff, daughters of the dead man, who are now at the detention home here."
