THREE SLAIN IN SHOOTING

Man Kills Two Then Self - Estranged Wife and Woman Ambushed by Russian Who Ends Own Life

The pall of death, engendered by an Old World belief that "Man is master in his own home," today hovered over the roofs of the local Russian quarter.
Victims of a domestic tragedy, the bodies of two women and a man lay at the County Morgue. They were Mrs. Esther Burgaroff, r44 years of age, her neighbor and friend, Mrs. Mary Pavaloff, 50, and Jack Burgaroff, 46, Russian rubbish collector.

THREE SHOTS HEARD
Early yesterday, according to police, Burgaroff stepped from between two buildings at 1519 East Fourth street and confronted his estranged wife and her friend as they walked to work at a near-by factory.
Pedestrians heard a shot - a shrill scream. Then two more shots in rapid succession.

TWO DEAD, ONE DYING
When detectives pushed through a quickly gathering crowd of nearby residents they found Mrs. Burgaroff and her friend dead with bullets through their heads, and Burgaroff wounded with a bullet in his brain. Burgaroff died in the Georgia Street RFeceiving Hospital a few minutes later.
Burgaroff and his wife had been separated four months, according to Detective Lieutenant Ledbetter. Repeated efforts to affect a reconciliation had failed. Mrs. Burgaroff had gone to live with her friend, Mrs. Pavaloff, at 336 South Clarence Street. Burgaroff's two children by a former marriage, Mary, 11, and Nick, 13, had been placed in the home of friends.

FACED HEARING
The wife had complained that her husband drank and abused her, according to police. Burgaroff was scheduled to appear at a hearing in the City Attorney's office yesterday at 10 a.m. to show why he had assertedly failed to support his wife and the two children, Ledbetter reported.
Faced with this hearing and his failure to correct his asserted marital troubles out of court, Burgaroff as police related the shooting, ambushed the women and slew himself.

From what I gather, Jack was first married to Hazel Nick Agalsoff. She died 12 Oct 1928 in Los Angeles, CA. According to the 1930 census, Jack was already married to Esther. I could not find the 1920 census for this family. The children on the census were John and Rachel (which could belong to the first wife); Mary and Nick are shown to belong to the 2nd wife's previous marriage; however, Nick shows up on the CA birth index with Agalzoff as his mother, which is Hazel. So now that means who is Mary's father?

I also show Esther's name as "Esther Kusamoff". The last name doesn't look right. Could it be 'Kasimoff'?
