Sentence
Date Is Set In Draft Case
Federal
Judge C. E. Beaumont yesterday continued until January 8th the time for sentencing Jacob John Kornoff 18, and his brother,
Pete Kornoff, 20, of the
Kerman district, charged with violating the Selective
Service Act.
Beaumont indicated, however, he plans to deny the youths’ request for probation.
Both sought deferment on the ground they are engaged in essential industry as farm workers. Their draft board rejected their deferment request and ordered them to report for induction into the army.
The January 8th hearing was set in order to give the youths an opportunity to complete some work on the farm before they are sentenced. The hearing will be held in
Los Angeles.
