I've looked through the Post Office Directories and the Post Office Middlesex Trade Directory with no joy.

The details I do have are as follows :

Owner : W.L. Cole (William Lawes Cole)
Location : Mile End (London, formerly Middlesex)
Sector : Engineering (Engineer/Toolmaker)

In 1912 Cole joined the Quasi Arc Company as Chief Engineer however I can't see any record of his engineering company.

Any thought please let me know.

Thanks

Dan Malson

Too late for Kelly's county directories - which they stopped publishing in 1939. A later directory for a nearby city/town may include Wickham - Southampton or Gosport perhaps?

Its always worth checking telephone directories for people like bakers if they ran a business as opposed to worked for someone else (available on Ancestry).

HELLO ANGEL IN TRAINING,

That is very interesting and I will look into that. Was it the Italian site you gave me before? I will try to find that and see what it says.

I will tell you a little secret seeing on how you are an angel in training. I start doing this search on my own a few years ago. I have no experience at this. Just what I am learning as I go and wonderful people who are so willing to help someone else. The reason is because of my 80 year old mother and her siblings, for some reason they didn't have alot of information on their family. Bible burned in a fire. The older siblings who might have known or remembered things passed away. So, I told her I would see what I could find. The one thing she would like is her grandparents marriage certificates, on both sides of her family the DINEEN'S and the DINGEVAN'S. So, anyway what started out as I will see what I can find to an obbsession for me. I also, want to know the ancestor's I never met and make a book for my children and the children that will follow. So, that is why I am so grateful to people like you and all the other's who have been helping me.

Sincerely,
Elailne
You're welcome. I haven't earned my wings yet. ;)
Interestingly, searching the groom's index for Patrick Dineen, as you spelled it, results in several -- including two, I think, for women named Mary (but none with the surname Mullane, which made me wonder if she had a different surname when they married). It was searching under Mary Mullane that led to the name variation for Dineen.

I will just put this out for you and anyone who reads this message, when watching the news you begin to think that there aren't any nice people left! But, I have found this to be just the opposite. It seems everytime I ask for some help there are people here helping and asking for nothing in return.
First, try www.worldcat.org to find out what libraries have this. (Several do, I checked.) Then contact the libraries' reference dept. and ask for a look up.

You could also look up your nearest Family History Center and order a microfilm for it (They have it, I also checked.) To find your nearest Center, go to familysearch.org.

You could contact the Brooklyn Public Library. They have the following guide re: directories:
http://www.brooklynpubliclibrary.org/pdf/directories.pdf

Ask them if they can look this up OR if they have volunteers who can do this OR if you can borrow their microfilm via InterLibrary Loan.

Good luck in your search!

Hi thanks for your quick reply!

Im trying to find a Margaret Singleton (born approx 1891) or a Sua Fong or Fung (again born abt 1891 China). They are my great grandparents and I have their Marriage Certificate from 1911 and they both gave 277 Crown Street West Derby as their address on the Marriage Certificate. They are both proving to be very elusive to me to say the least. I know her father was John Watson Singleton and I have been able to trace him in the censuses.

I have really drawn a blank with my great grandparents and dont know really where to turn now.

Any assistance would be gratefully received!

Thank you!

Julia

William Busch in any of the Chicago directories

Is William Busch, an attorney, listed in any of the Chicago directories? He would have been in Chicago from about 1870 until his death. He built a house in St. Louis in 1865 with his brother, Gustav. He practiced law briefly in St. Louis then went to Chicago sometime after 1865. Their father was John William Busch. William Busch was my great-great uncle and I have had trouble finding his trail. I would love to be in contact with his descendants. Thank you very much for any information you can supply.

I'm looking for Joseph Kelly born abt 1880, his father was Michael Kelly. In 1921 on Joseph's marriage certificate he lists his occupation as Brakesman in Warehouse and his address is listed as 23 Chester Road. His father Michaels occupation is listed as Cotton Warehouseman and is listed as Deceased on the marriage certificate.
Joseph's wife Emily Elizabeth Boardman is listed as living at 43 Morecambe Street, Walton.
I have no idea where Joseph or Michael were born but have two families with Michaels and Josephs listed. One family with Michael born in Ireland and the other with Michael born in Oldham Lancashire and connected to the cotton industry. I just wanted to know what was going on between the 1901 census and 1921 when Joseph got married.
Joseph was 41 on his marriage cert. and his wife was 21.

Thanks

Claire

I am looking to track my family's residences through the Brooklyn, NY Telephone Directory in the years 1950, 1960 and 1970. The name is Alvin Mann and he lived in Brooklyn his entire life. I believe that he lived on Flatbush Avenue in the late 50's. He passed away in the late 70's. I would like to get his street addresses and telephone numbers for 1950, 1960 and 1970. And you may be too young to remember, that way back then the telephone numbers used prefixs for the first two numbers (ie. MUrrayhill5-5555). Thanks so much.
