Would anyone know anything about the Ziani (Xiani) family from
Venice. From what I know, our family is descended from the Marc'Antonio Ziani who moved to Vienna. Some paper was improperly recorded and became M.A.Xiani and the name became, officially, Maxiani - later Hungarianized to Maksziányi. My great grandmother, born in Budapest, retained some sort of title from Italy, was friends with King Umberto, and derived income from some sort of winery estate in Italy and travelled all over the world. Does anyone know what title the Ziani (Xiani's) could of had? Or would anyone know where I could begin to just start tracing back a tree? Nothing seems to be available for this family even though they were very important in Venetian History. Also..anyone know of why the X was replaced with a "Z" somehow? Thanks!!
