I have done some surface research regarding my mother's family the Scutellaro's. The research has shown that in the 1500's a
Giacomo Scutellari settled in
Naples. The name was later changed to Scutellaro. The Scutellari's are directly related to the houses of
Sforza and Pallavicino of
Milan. Further, the Scutellari were to have held the title of Marquee in the city of
Parma, and can trace their roots back to Oberto I. I know it is a long shot but I was curious of anyone had additional information. The interesting part of the story is that my great uncle (when they were alive) remembered that the name Scutellaro was change in the past; they also had in their position the original coat of arms, which was crested with a knight's helmet with three red plums. I have read that this can signify a high ranking nobleman.
